Gayanya kalem, terkesan tidak banyak bicara, namun telaten dalam membina para mahasiswa. Karena itu layak dipercaya untuk memimpin Fakultas Teknik Industri (FTI) Institut Teknologi Nasional (ITN) Malang. Itulah kepribadian Dr. F. Yudi Limpraptono ST, MT, Dekan baru FTI yang baru saja dilantik sebagai Dekan FTI beberapa hari lalu.
Yudi, sapaan akrabnya, terlihat sumringah dalam acara yang sakral itu. Dalam pidatonya meyatakan kesiapannya untuk membesarkan ITN Malang sebagaimana sudah direncanakan dalam renstra yaitu menjadi world class university pada 2035 mendatang. “Saya siap mempertahankan apa yang baik dari kepemimpinan sebelumnya. Dan akan berupaya mengembangkan sesuatu yang memang perlu untuk dimajukan,” tuturnya.
Pasca acara, wartawan itnmalangnews.com menemui pria kelahiran 3 Mei 1968 itu. Setelah kami mengucapkan selamat padanya, dia melempar senyum ramah. Pada kesempatan itu, pria asli Malang menceritakan kehiduapan masa kecil, pengalamannya selama kuliah hingga pengabdiannya di ITN Malang.
Menurut suami Agnes Hilda Setyawati, masa kecilnya dilalui di kawasan Tumpang, Malang. Dia menuntaskan Sekolah Dasar (SD) dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di daerahnya. Saat duduk di bangku SMP, Yudi sudah menyukai PMR (Palang Merah Remaja). Pilihan ini karena dia dapat belajar bagaimana menolong orang. Keaktifannya selama di sekolah membuat pria yang kini tinggal di Jl. Kapisraba, Sawojajar tersebut terpilih sebagai ketua PMR di sekolah. “Kemudian saya dipercaya untuk mewakili Kabupaten Malang ke Jakarta,” kenangnya.
Minatnya dalam dunia PMR tetap dibawa hingga dia duduk di bangku Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Kota Malang. Bahkan saat itu dia sempat memberikan prestasi yang baik bagi sekolahnya. Yudi pernah dinobatkan sebagai juara I lomba PMR se-Malang Raya. “Saat itu lombanya buat tandu untuk pertolongan pertama. Ternyata saya menang,” ujar dosen teknik elektro S1 itu.
Setelah menuntaskan jenjang SMA pada tahun 1988, dia langsung masuk ke Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Malang jurusan teknik elektro. Saat kuliah, Yudi lebih konsen pada dunia akademiknya meskipun begitu masih ada aktivitas lainnya yang dia kerjakan di luar akademik. Misalnya, masuk dalam latihan bela diri. Yang paling mengesankan bagi dia masa kuliah adalah saat membuat pemancar radio (orari) yang bisa digunakan untuk berkomunikasi dengan orang yang berada di daerah berbeda. “Saat itu kan belum ada HP. Jadi orari menjadi salah satu alat komunikasi yang penting,” tuturnya. Bahkan hingga kini Yudi tetap menjadi anggota orari di Malang.
Setamat kuliah Yudi bekerja di ITN Malang, dan resmi menjadi dosen tetap teknik elektro sejak 1994. Setahun kemudian menjadi sekretaris jurusan hingga 1998. Setelah itu lanjut studi master di Universitas Indonesia (UI) dengan jurusan yang sama, selesai pada tahun 2000. Kembali ke ITN Malang, pada 2001 diangkat menjadi pimpinan proyek sistem informasi manajemen (SIM). Selanjutnya menjabat kepala UPT SIM dari 2002 hingga 2005.
Karir Yudi semakin moncer. Dia terpilih sebagai ketua program studi teknik elektro S1 dari 2005 hingga 2010. Setelah itu dirasa keilmuannya masih perlu dikembangkan. Dia melanjutkan studi doktoral di Universitas Indonesia (UI) dan lulus pada tahun 2015. Dia kembali ke ITN Malang dan menjabat kepala laboratorium elektronika digital teknik elektro. Lalu, dilanjutkan kepala PUSTIK hingga 2017. Dan kini dekan FTI ITN Malang. (her)
